Lucerne/Burgdorf BE – CKW buys Rebmann Elektro AG with sites in Burgdorf, Herzogenbuchsee, Langenthal and Huttwil. The new acquisition is intended to strengthen CKW’s presence in the canton of Berne. In addition, the Lucerne-based energy service provider is planning a competence center for solar, heat and e-mobility.

Rebmann Elektro AG joins CKW. The electrical company, which is well established in the canton of Berne and has its headquarters in Burgdorf, is to expand the presence of the Lucerne-based energy services provider in the canton, CKW explains in a corresponding statement. Rebmann Elektro currently employs 50 people in Burgdorf and its three other locations in the Bernese communities of Herzogenbuchsee, Langenthal and Huttwil. No information on the purchase price is provided in the announcement.

The new acquisition is intended in particular to strengthen CKW’s business with the installation of photovoltaic systems. “Rebmann Elektro enjoys a very good reputation in the region,” Thomas Gisler, head of the electrical division at CKW Gebäudetechnik, is quoted as saying in the release. “To complement our electrical services, we will establish a center of excellence for solar, heating and e-mobility in the Bern region to drive the expansion of renewable energy with a focus on the Emmental, Oberaargau and Bern East regions.”

Under the umbrella of CKW, the previous co-owner of Rebmann Elektro, Thomas Eggimann, is to lead the fortunes of the Bernese electrical company. Major shareholder Lorenz Rebmann will look elsewhere in the medium term, CKW informs. All other employees will be retained and the existing sites will be continued. hs
