Kone scores with sustainability

Wangen-Brüttisellen ZH – Kone has been awarded the top grade A by the environmental organization Carbon Disclosure Project for its attention to sustainability in its dealings with suppliers. Kone is the only elevator and escalator manufacturer to make the Clean200 list in the Corporate Knights.

The environmental organization Carbon Disclosure Project hasawarded Kone the top grade A for its supplier management. “We are pleased to contribute to the fight against climate change and to be recognized as a leader in the supply chain,” said Mikko Korte, Executive Vice President, KONE Supply Chain, in a statement from the elevator and escalator manufacturer. “I am proud of the smooth cooperation with our suppliers and our sustainability solutions to reduce the CO2 emissions of our products over their entire life cycle.”

Kone has made it onto the Clean200 list of the Corporate Knights. Kone was ranked 55th out of 21,000 companies, according to the press release. In addition, the Finnish company with a subsidiary in Wangen-Brüttisellen is the only elevator and escalator manufacturer on the Clean200 list of the Canadian media and research company, which focuses on promoting a sustainable economy.

By 2030, Kone aims to halve its own operational emissions compared to the base year 2018. “Our sustainability projects are already proving successful,” explains Korte. “In 2022, our CO2 emissions for each product ordered were reduced by 4.7 percent compared to 2021 and by 4.3 percent compared to the base year 2018.” ce/hs
