First innovation aperitif provides insights into the circular economy

Uster ZH – The topic of the circular economy also concerns companies in the Zurich Oberland. The Zürioberland and Uster location promotions therefore organized an innovation aperitif together with the INOS platform Wirtschaften in Kreisläufen at the host company Uster Technologies.

The topic of the circular economy has also arrived in the Zurich Oberland. This was demonstrated at the first Zürioberland Innovation Apéro on March 11 at Uster Technologies. The event was jointly organized by Standortförderung Zürioberland and Standortförderung Uster. Around 60 entrepreneurs and other managers discussed the circular economy and innovation, according to a press release.

Olaf Holstein, President of the NextGenerations corporate network and coordinator of the INOS platform Business in Cycles, spoke about the challenges facing strategic management. He addressed topics such as reducing the consumption of energy and raw materials and, above all, the reuse of old products as new raw materials. INOS (Innovation Eastern Switzerland) aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Eastern Switzerland and is supported by the federal government as well as the two cantons of Appenzell, Glarus, Graubünden, Schaffhausen, St.Gallen, Thurgau and the Zurich Oberland.

Renato Vögeli from the Vögeli print shop in Langnau i.E. showed how his industry can achieve fully recyclable production. The Vögeli print shop is the first in the world to be certified according to the strict Cradle to Cradle Gold recycling standard.

Eva Bergmann from Step Zero in Flawil presented the project of a fully recyclable sports shoe. “Small steps bring great success,” she said.

Project manager Anja Schleth from Uster Technologies explained how the company is involving its employees in order to become sustainable. ce/stk
