Baden AG/Lucerne – The Zurich-based climate protection foundation myclimate has presented its 2024 Awards. The winners are the Twerenbold Reisen Group, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the German GreenSign Institute.

Twerenbold Reisen Group from Baden, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences andArts (HSLU) and GreenSign from Germany are doing a great deal to promote sustainable travel offers. They received the myclimate Awards 2024 from the climate protection foundation myclimate. The award winners have set standards “for the successful integration or significant innovations in research and implementation of measures for climate protection and sustainability in tourism offers”, according to a press release. The awards were presented at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin. The Climate Protection Foundation has been awarding them for more than ten years for innovations in ecology, economy and social issues.

The Twerenbold Reisen Group, which includes Mittelthurgau Reisen, Imbach Reisen and Vögele Reisen, was honored for its holistic approach as an “industry pioneer for holistically sustainable and environmentally conscious travel”. The reason for this is that the travel offers and internal company processes were comprehensively assessed. Previous and subsequent emissions were also recorded.

HSLU was named a “pioneer in research and promotion of sustainable tourism and mobility solutions”. The award went to the Institute for Tourism and Mobility, Center Tourism, which specializes in research on the tourism industry and individual service providers. The practical approach, forward-looking projects and effectively introduced, more sustainable product designs were recognized. The Swisstainable sustainability program was cited as an example.

The award for “leading hotel certification in the field of sustainability in Germany” went to the Berlin-based GreenSign Institute. “With its five-stage certification system based on international frameworks, GreenSign not only checks the current state of sustainability, but also points the way to continuous improvement and further development,” it says. Family-run hotels and large hotel chains are rated equally. ce/heg
