Aarau – ERDE, the take-back system for agricultural plastics, collected around 2200 tons of plastics in 2023. Compared to the previous year, in which 1800 tons of plastics were collected, this represents an increase of more than 22 percent.

ERDE Switzerland, the take-back system for agricultural plastics based in the canton of Aargau, recorded a further increase in the collection of recyclable plastics in 2023. According to a press release from the Swiss Farmers’ Association, ERDE was able to collect more than 2,200 tons of agricultural plastics such as silage stretch films, silage flat films, underlay films and round bale nets last year and return them to the recycling cycle. This not only enabled valuable raw materials to be recovered, but also reduced CO2 emissions in agriculture. Compared to the previous year, in which 1800 tons of plastics were collected, this was an increase of 400 tons, just over 22 percent. In addition, the number of collection points was increased to 116.

“400 tons more than last year, that’s something to be proud of! The increase shows the growing interest and increased participation in ERDE Switzerland,” Kurt Röschli, President and Managing Director of ERDE Switzerland, is quoted as saying in the press release.

Since 2021, the ERDE – Erntekunststoffe Recycling Deutschland system has been transferred to Switzerland. ce/ww
