The Schlierem-based innovation service provider Zühlke invites to a round table on Sustainable Medical Devices. The online event will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, and go until noon. According to a media release, the program includes keynote speeches, breakout sessions, startup pitches, practical examples, discussion and exchange of experiences.

The event is a special edition of the Sustainability Circles organized by Zühlke and aims to provide an overview of the various approaches to making medical devices more sustainable in design and use throughout their life cycle. According to the invitation, the specific topics are impact analysis by means of life cycle assessment, material selection, product design, packaging, distribution and handling of the product at the end of its life cycle.

The event is free of charge and, according to the invitation, is aimed exclusively at those responsible for research and development (R&D), sustainability, innovation and product management. Consulting firms are excluded from participation, according to Zühlke. Registration is possible online.

On the background, the Zühlke release states that whether it is the Green Deal, supply chain legislation or increasing demands from customers and partner companies – sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the healthcare sector. In this area, where human lives are at stake, the requirements for the safety of products and processes are particularly high.

Zühlke’s roundtables teach the theory and practice of sustainability in business in just three hours and promote the exchange of experiences in and between companies, says Zühlke about the Sustainability Circle. ce/gba
