Working together for more resource efficiency in the city of the future

Führung NEST Ressourcen Forum Schweiz
The second Resource Forum Switzerland took place on October 25, 2018. Around 90 participants from science, business and the public sector discussed the key issues of resource efficiency and the circular economy in the city of the future in the plenary session. In three workshops (‘Circular Economy in the Construction Industry’, ‘Postfossil Cities’ and ‘Efficiency Leaders’) as well as during the visit of NEST and UMAR – the Future Lab House – they further deepened the topic.

They explored the following overarching questions: Where are the hotspots of raw material consumption? Do solutions for reduced resource consumption already exist?

The discussions showed that cities and industry have already developed good solutions for conserving natural resources while at the same time strengthening the innovative power of the Swiss economy. In order to be able to implement these solutions in reality, however, it also requires a change in thinking, a lot of creativity as well as the right framework conditions. This calls for close cooperation among the stakeholders concerned. To ensure that this cooperation can be achieved, the 2018 forum was entitled “Science, business and cities working together for greater resource efficiency”.

So it’s now up to all the players to create collaborative partnerships. In this way, they can work together to identify the right solutions and take them forward.
