Zug/Bern – Since mid-January, Swiss Post has also been delivering its mail using electrically powered tricycles, known as trikes. The manufacturer vRbikes.ch ag is part of the Smart Urban Mobility business unit of the industrial and data group vonRoll Infratec.
The new electric trike vR3.2 has been in use at Swiss Post since mid-January. The postal service uses these tricycles for the delivery of letters and parcels. They were added to the fleet as part of their dual-source strategy. Manufacturer is vRbikes.ch. The trike, with a modular body system, can be customized to meet the urban transportation needs of businesses, municipalities and individuals, according to a media release. He said the Postal Service has chosen equipment with advanced telemetry, a comprehensive service package and a mobility guarantee. Final assembly of the E-Trikes takes place at vonRoll’s Choindez plant near Delémont in the canton of Jura.
