Zurich/Mönchaltorf ZH – SlowGrow has been awarded the contract to manage two agricultural areas. On the one hand, the company will manage the meadow in front of the Sorell Hotel Zürichberg from 2024. On the other hand, SlowGrow leases the Adlisberghof.

The agricultural company SlowGrow, based in Mönchaltorf, has been awarded the contract for the management of the Adlisberghof and a meadow area in front of the Sorell Hotel Zürichberg in Zurich in a tender by Grün Stadt Zürich. Starting in 2024, the company will cultivate the one-and-a-half-hectare meadow, including its approximately 100 standard fruit trees, and lease the Adlisberghof, according to a media release.

Accordingly, SlowGrow’s winning concept envisions farming in regenerative mosaic agriculture. This goes beyond organic and Demeter guidelines and improves soil fertility. In addition, SlowGrow farmers work closely with local restaurateurs so that their harvest ends up directly on the plates of guests at the Hotel Zürichberg and in surrounding restaurants.

On the one hand, the cooperation suits the Hotel Zürichberg because it has lacked a concept for the fruit and grass areas up to now. On the other hand, an environmentally and climate-friendly diet is “a central element of our sustainability strategy,” Nicole Thurnherr, deputy COO of the Sorell Hotels group of companies, is quoted as saying in the media release. Therefore, Anina and Remo Hugi, who run the hotel, are also pleased to be able to “collaborate on a concept that will benefit nature, but also our restaurant and hotel guests”. ko
