Morges VD – Romande Energie will in future allocate 1 percent of its operating profit to the activities of non-profit organizations in western Switzerland. This social and environmental percentage is intended to strengthen the sustainability of society and the environment.
Romande Energie launches its social and environmental percentage on January 1. The French-speaking Swiss energy supplier provides up to 1 percent of operating earnings before interest and taxes for this purpose. The funds will benefit non-profit organizations in French-speaking Switzerland that work for the sustainability of society and the environment, Romande Energie writes in a statement.
The projects to be supported are pre-selected by a specially formed committee and put to the vote of Romande Energie employees. The committee also coordinates support and monitors implementation.
Romande Energie relies on the well-being of society for its success, the company says, explaining the introduction of the social and environmental percentage. “We want to support those people who are directly affected by the energy crisis, climate change or both,” Christian Petit is quoted as saying in the release. “We can help make our shared world sustainable,” said Romande Energie’s general manager. stk
