Zurich – Customers of bag manufacturer FREITAG can now purchase a crossbody bag with reflectors. For this bag called F650 DIXON, made entirely from recycled material, the company first uses discarded contour markings from trucks.
Zurich-based FREITAG, which makes its bags from recycled materials, is now offering the F650 DIXON reflective crossbody bag, according to a media release. This, FREITAG said in a statement, means that on store shelves and online “you’ll find not only discarded truck tarps and textiles made from drunk PET bottles, but also reused reflectors from truck tarps.”
The main bag is made of 100 percent spun-dyed recycled PET. A zippered side pocket is made from old truck tarpaulins, and the variable strap is made from car seat belt B-ware. According to the manufacturer, the new model is intended to increase the safety of bike riding wearers at dusk and at night. The design should be repair-friendly. The small so-called sling bag has been on sale since May 10.
FREITAG was founded in 1993 by graphic designers Markus and Daniel Freitag. Since 2011, the company has been based in the Oerlikon district of Zurich. FREITAG’s recycled bags are available in stores and online throughout Europe. ce/eb
