Baden AG/Baar ZG – The Polish subsidiary of energy supplier Axpo, Axpo Polska, and Zug-based GoldenPeaks Capital are supplying solar power directly to seven Nestlé Polska factories. The companies have concluded a unique contract for this purpose.
Axpo Polska, a subsidiary of the Baden-based energy supplier Axpo, has created a long-term contract for the supply of green energy to Nestlé Polska by GoldenPeaks Capital, operator of solar plants. The Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) includes the direct supply of approximately 44 gigawatt hours of green energy annually from GoldenPeaks Capital’s photovoltaic systems to seven Nestlé factories in Poland, according to a media release.
Accordingly, the agreement is unique in Poland as it covers additional services including title settlement. This created a “cooperation model in which Nestlé Polska buys energy directly from Axpo Polska and GoldenPeaks Capital’s portfolio companies,” Paweł Wierzbicki, Head of Origination and member of the Executive Board at Axpo Polska, is quoted as saying. Normally, the electricity generated in photovoltaic plants is fed into the grid somewhere in the country and not sold directly to consumers.
Nestlé Polska has already been purchasing solar power from GoldenPeaks Capital’s photovoltaic systems since late summer 2022. The solar power is part of Nestlé’s sustainability strategy to eliminate CO2 emissions by 2050. “This is part of the diversification of supply and energy sources, as all local factories already use renewable electricity sourced from approved suppliers and certified with guarantees of origin,” Artur Jankowski, CEO of Nestlé Polska, is quoted as saying.
The global investment company GoldenPeaks Capital specializes in the construction and operation of solar energy plants and is one of the largest owners of photovoltaic plants in Poland and Hungary. ko
