Nature Congress 2023 is dedicated to sustainable nutrition

Bern/Basel – The Nature Congress 2023 on August 29 will focus on the synergies between biodiversity conservation and the transformation towards sustainable food systems. The motto of the congress in the Eventhalle Bern is: From the field to the plate.

The eco.ch association invites you to the Nature Congress 2023 on August 29 in the Eventhalle Bern. The congress, which is expected to attract 250 participants, will be held under the motto From Field to Plate. The theme brings into focus the synergies between biodiversity conservation and the transformation towards sustainable food systems. Eco.ch has been organizing the Nature Congress for ten years.

According to the announcement, there will be several lectures on the topic at the Nature Congress, plus workshops and short presentations. The aim is to promote networking between different stakeholder groups and raise awareness of biodiversity in food systems. The position paper produced at the congress is intended to generate concrete recommendations for action and bring them into political implementation.

At the beginning of the congress at 9 a.m., Gabriela Suter, member of the National Council and president of the eco.ch association, and Ion Karagounis, who is responsible for new economic models at WWF Switzerland, will speak. Christian Hofer, Director at the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG), will also speak. The Nature Congress will be moderated by Ion Karagounis and Bettina Walch of Plan Biodivers.

Johanna Jacobi, assistant professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), and Niklaus Wagner, research associate at the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), will speak on the topic of “Biodiversity and food systems – where are we and where do we want to go? Other presentations on this topic will be given by Isabelle Fragnière, a researcher at the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG), and Johanna Herrigel.
