Weinfelden TG/Zurich – The packaging specialist Model is now producing the outer packaging for the sports shoe manufacturer ON. So far, they have been manufactured in Vietnam. With the smaller, uncolored cartons from domestic production, ON wants to operate more ecologically and save delivery kilometers.
Model Holding AG, based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, has signed an innovative supply contract with sporting goods producer ON, according to its media release. The family-owned company for the production of packaging solutions made of corrugated and solid board will in future produce packaging cartons for the shipping of sports shoes and clothing of the Zurich brand.
The two companies are thus reportedly aiming for a sustainable solution in the trade and distribution of ON products: The shipping cartons will no longer be delivered from Vietnam, 9500 kilometers away, but only over 70 kilometers from the Model production facility in Weinfelden.
In addition, the material used so far is to become more ecological: Instead of the black lacquered cardboard boxes used so far, uncolored boxes and paper made from recycled fibers will be used. A clear inside print with legal information on returns and exchanges also saves further info sheets. Their smaller volume is designed to optimize shipping logistics. ww
