Solothurn – Marti AG has been awarded the 25th Solothurn Entrepreneurship Prize. The award, worth 20,000 Swiss francs, was presented under the annual theme of circular economy. As the second prize winner, the start-up publiXdata was chosen by the audience as the best newcomer.
Two companies based in Solothurn have done exemplary work on the subject of circular economy. Marti AG received the Solothurn Entrepreneurship Award(SUP) worth 20,000 Swiss francs, according to a media release from the canton of Solothurn. The start-up publiXdata was voted the most popular young company by the audience.
In her laudatory speech, jury member Dr. Doris Aebi said that Marti AG was playing a pioneering role in the change from waste disposal to the sorting and recycling of recyclable materials. In its innovation center Baustoffpark, Marti AG is driving forward the development and production of new building materials from recycled mineral materials.
The SUP was awarded for the 25th time by the Canton of Solothurn, the Cantonal Solothurn Trade Association and the Solothurn Chamber of Commerce. The background, he said, is the challenges of climate change and environmental pollution. Marti AG, founded almost 100 years ago, implements construction projects in Switzerland and other European countries with its 500 employees. The award winner recognized the importance of the circular economy in the construction industry as early as 60 years ago, it says. In 1960, for example, the parent company set up a branch of the company to recycle old building materials.
The public was also able to vote online for the Canton’s Newcomer of the Year 2023. With 54 percent of the votes, the young company publiXdata AG received the prize. The Solothurn-based start-up develops standardized financial management tools for public organizations. heg
