Vaduz/Zug – The Liechtenstein Bankers Association has entered into a strategic cooperation with the online games manufacturer Operal AG. The goal is to use impact gaming to lead users to sustainability and environmental awareness.

The Liechtenstein Bankers Association and Operal Gaming have entered into a strategic partnership to advance sustainability, social responsibility and innovation in society, according to a media release. Operal’s experience in so-called impact gaming is to play a central role in this. In playful activities such as Operal’s smartphone game Climate Candy, young people are to learn how to deal responsibly with the environment.

The operators assume that young people who play associate a direct reward system and feedback as well as the associated release of happiness hormones with a targeted learning effect. With the simultaneous transfer of knowledge about the climate problem, new social and sustainable behavior is to be learned.

“We believe games can be a powerful tool for social change,” Luigi Caradonna, Operal’s board of directors, is quoted as saying in the release. “And we strive to make a positive impact on the world through our play.”

Simon Tribelhorn, CEO of the Liechtenstein Bankers Association, emphasizes the importance of social responsibility: “Our stakeholders and the clients of our members expect more than just high-quality services. They want financial institutions to contribute to solving the environmental and social challenges of our time.” ww
