Schwarzenbach SG/Zuchwil SO/Zurich – On behalf of Aldi Suisse, the largest photovoltaic system in the canton of St.Gallen has been built on its regional distribution center in Schwarzenbach. It was installed by Helion with Energie Pool Schweiz.
Helion, the installation company for solar systems and heat pumps active throughout Switzerland, and the energy service provider Energie Pool Schweiz have jointly built the largest photovoltaic system in the canton of St.Gallen. It was installed on behalf of the retailer Aldi Suisse at its regional distribution center in Schwarzenbach.
This plant went into operation in mid-July after six months of construction, according to a media release. It has a total area of 25,000 square meters, about the size of three soccer fields. Each of the 12,900 photovoltaic modules has an output of 415 watts.
The annual energy production is 5765 megawatt hours. This is roughly equivalent to the annual consumption of 2000 three-person households. According to the data, 63 kilometers of cable and 23,000 weight stones were laid.
Aldi Suisse has reportedly already been operating Switzerland’s largest continuous solar installation on its regional distribution center in Perlen LU since 2020. The company also produces solar power on roofs at more than 60 of its stores. The new plant in Schwarzenbach is his second largest after Perlen. ce/mm
