Schindellegi SZ – The UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai (COP 28) has appointed Kühne+Nagel as its official freight forwarding and logistics partner. This, the company says, underscores not only its expertise in trade shows and events, but also its efforts in low-carbon logistics.
Kuehne+Nagel will be the sole so-called ground handler at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference, responsible for managing all logistics activities on site. According to a media release, this includes setting up country pavilions and stages for panel discussions. In addition, he said, the team will also assist participants with their end-to-end and local logistics needs, from international freight forwarding to customs clearance, warehousing and delivery to the venue.
A total of more than 120,000 visitors are expected to attend COP28 every day from November 30 to December 12. The appointment of Kuehne+Nagel by COP28 is not only due to the company’s logistics expertise, but also to its ambitions to decarbonize the logistics sector, the statement added.
“Our current focus is on making low-emission fuels available in the marketplace,” Sarah Kreienbühl, who is a member of the Executive Committee responsible for Human Resources and ESG, is quoted as saying. “However, our industry needs to tap into new technologies to provide more and better solutions.” This is another reason why the annual COP is so important, he said.
This appointment of the logistics provider, respected in Europe for events and exhibitions, also boosts its “efforts to further expand this segment in the Middle East,” according to National Manager UAE and Oman, Damian Raczynski. ce/mm
