Kappel ZH – Kappel Monastery is strengthening its commitment to sustainability and climate friendliness. The seminar hotel and educational house of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Zurich engages in various environmental activities to this end.
For over 800 years, Kappel Monastery has been committed to the themes of self-sufficiency and sustainability. In a new initiative, the seminar hotel and educational house of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Zurich wants to strengthen its commitment to climate and environmental protection. According to a media release, Kappel Monastery participates in the myclimate initiative Cause We Care, recognized by Swisstainable, the sustainability program of Switzerland Tourism.
More environmentally friendly management of hotel and restaurant operations should reduce CO2 emissions to the point of climate neutrality. In addition, the monastery remits one-fourth of all banquet revenue and a portion of lodging fees to the Cause We Care Sustainability Fund. Resources from this fund finance selected national and global climate protection projects. Among other things, biogas plants for 9,000 families in India are to be financed. eb
