Interlaken BE – Industriellen Betriebe Interlaken (IBI) has put a photovoltaic system into operation on the roof of the Matten Equestrian Sports Center. The 2200 square meter system was financed by the IBI’s first solar community. It will supply 500,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.

IBI ‘s first solar community supplies electricity. According to the Interlaken-based energy supplier, customers had the opportunity to contribute CHF 250 per square meter to the system. In return, they will receive a quarterly credit on their electricity bill for the next 20 years.

The system on the roof of the Matten equestrian sports center has an area of 2,200 square meters and is expected to generate around 500,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. It has now been officially put into operation by IBI CEO Helmut Perreten and Remo Zumbrunn from the energy transition cooperative.

IBI is now examining further solar communities. Customers can already express their interest in such an investment. ce/stk
