Winterthur – Designwerk has won a prize in the Product Design category at this year’s Red Dot Design Awards. The third generation of mobile fast chargers from the Winterthur-based electromobility specialist received the award.
Designwerk has been honored in the Product Design category of this year’s Red Dot Design Award, the Winterthur-based electromobility specialist informs in a statement. The award was given to the third generation mobile fast chargers, Mobile Charger 44-920 and Mobile Charger 22-500. The Red Dot in the international design competition for product design, communication design and design concepts is the first award the company has received for achievements in design.
The two fast chargers have voltages from 250 to 1000 volts and can be used for both passenger cars and trucks. “Thanks to their high power density, the chargers can be transported on a trolley, allowing them to replace several permanently installed units,” the jury is quoted as saying on the Red Dot portal. Here, the design competition also highlights “the minimalist white housings” of the chargers. They “symbolize clean mobility and also recommend the chargers for use in showrooms or the development departments of vehicle manufacturers.”
Designwerk has arranged the electronics of its new fast chargers around the device cooling. This gives the technically complex devices a simple, reduced form, writes Designwerk in its statement. “Receiving the Red Dot Design Award in the Product Design 2023 category is a recognition of our continued connection between multi-layered industrial design with innovative engineering,” Mirco Grob, the company’s industrial design team leader, is quoted as saying there. ce/hs
