
Basel – Coop is offering the first organic oat drinks from Swiss production in its stores. The two products Oferdrink Natur and Oferdrink Barista are now available under the Karma brand. They are certified by Bio Suisse.
The Coop retail cooperative is launching two oat drinks from Swiss organic production under its own brand Karma. The oats are processed at the Mittelland Molkerei in Suhr AG, which is part of the Emmi Group, according to a media release.
The two organic oat drinks are characterized by a good eco-balance, according to the release. In particular, the low land use and low water consumption in the cultivation of organic oats is mentioned. Both Karma Oat Drink Natur and Oat Drink Barista are certified with the Bio Suisse eco-label. The products are oriented mainly on the aspects of sustainability and regionality.
Coop carries more than 50 milk alternatives in its assortment and a total of more than 2000 vegetarian-labeled products, of which more than 1800 are vegan. According to its own information, Coop thus offers the widest range of vegetarian and vegan products in the Swiss retail trade. A large part of these products is made on the basis of oats. eb
