Coop scores with organic products


Basel – Coop’s sales of organic products increased by 9 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2023. The own brand Naturaplan, launched 30 years ago, is particularly well known. This is shown by the first Coop Bio Report. The cooperative continues to expand its organic offering.

Coop launched its own organic brand Naturaplan 30 years ago. Since then, the business with organic products has been a success story, explains the retail cooperative in a press release. In the first nine months of this year, sales of organic products increased by 9 percent year-on-year.

Coop took a closer look at its organic products business to mark the anniversary of Naturaplan. According to the first Coop Bio Report, organic products are favored above all by one- to two-person households and in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Zurich, Zug and Geneva. In the cities of Winterthur, Zurich and Arlesheim BL, their share of total sales amounts to a quarter to a third, Coop writes.

The cooperative has set itself the goal of also offering an organic variant for each of its products. In the anniversary year, the range of organic products was expanded by around 200 items. In the future, too, Coop intends to continuously add new organic products to its range. ce/hs
