Companies benefit from energy analyses

Bern – Federally funded energy analyses for companies have led to energy savings in heating processes at 220 companies, according to an evaluation by EBP. A further 800 energy-intensive companies could benefit from the support program.

The Swiss Federal Office of Energy(SFOE) supports energy-intensive companies in optimizing their energy consumption. So far, 220 companies have taken advantage of the Pinch energy analysis support program for industrial companies, the SFOE reported in a press release. They have not only received a detailed analysis of their energy budget, but also suggestions for measures that can be used to make savings.

The Federal Office commissioned EBP Switzerland to evaluate the impact of the support program. The implementation of the recommended measures was examined in 78 companies. This showed an average saving of 22 percent of the thermal energy consumed in the company, writes the SFOE. In absolute terms, a total saving of 430 gigawatt hours per year was achieved.

According to the report, companies primarily implement the measures with the best cost-benefit ratio as well as instruments that are easy to implement and do not interfere with core industrial processes. Companies that are also supported in the implementation process by the advisors in the support program even implement a large proportion of the proposals.

Despite its obvious success, the support program is still largely unknown in industry. Most of the companies that have taken part so far were made aware of the program by moderators for target agreements or by energy consultants. According to the report, a further 800 companies could also benefit from an energy analysis. ce/hs
