Capt’n Greenfin presents himself in the Lion’s Den

Bern – Capt’n Greenfin will be competing for an investment in its plastic- and lead-free fishing bait on the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen Schweiz” on December 5. Founded in 2022, the start-up uses a natural and harmless material that degrades completely within a week.

The Bern-based start-up Capt’n Greenfin, founded in 2022, presents itself on the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen Schweiz”. It will be broadcast on December 5 at 8:15 p.m. on 3+. The three-person team hopes to attract at least one investor for its plastic- and lead-free fishing bait, known as softbaits. They are already on sale in the company’s online store.

Their natural material is a proprietary development, is said to be harmless to humans, animals and nature and degrades completely within a week. In June this year, Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion, awarded the up-and-coming fishing company CHF 260,000 in research funding to further develop its materials. The funds will be used for a joint research project with the Institute of Plastics Technology at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. It is intended to counter the fact that, according to company estimates, around 1,300 tons of plastic bait and 1,300 tons of lead are lost every year through bait breakage and pollute the waters.

“Taking part in Die Höhle der Löwen Schweiz gives us the opportunity to present Capt’n Greenfin and sustainable fishing to a wide audience and to attract potential investors for the expansion of the company,” Jonas Urwyler, CEO and founder of the start-up, is quoted as saying in a press release. In October 2022, Capt’n Greenfin had already convinced the jury of the Swiss Sustainability Challenge. Shortly before, the young company had received start-up funding of 40,000 Swiss francs from Venture Kick. ce/mm
