Baden AG – Axpo and Sunnic Lighthouse, subsidiary of Hamburg-based solar park developer Enerparc, have signed a second power purchase agreement. As of October 1, Sunnic Lighthouse will supply 38.4 gigawatt hours of solar power per year to Axpo.

Energy company Axpo and Sunnic Lighthouse have signed a second power purchase agreement (PPA) for green power. It stipulates that the electricity trading subsidiary of Hamburg-based solar park developer Enerparc will supply 38.4 gigawatt hours of solar power annually to Axpo from October 1. According to a media release from Axpo, this volume covers the annual electricity needs of around 7500 households and saves more than 22,000 tons of CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuels.

The solar power comes from a portfolio of several Enerparc solar plants already on the grid. Sunnic Lighthouse would provide power based on a forecasted delivery schedule for each subsequent day. The purchase agreement has a term until December 31, 2027.

“The successful negotiation of this second contract is proof of the trusting partnership between the two companies,” Axpo Germany Managing Director Johannes Pretel is quoted as saying. “We were again able to conclude the PPA smoothly and without complications. With Sunnic on board as a reliable partner, we look forward to further agreements to drive the energy transition.” ce/mm
