Zurich – ABB has launched a new device for measuring gas, liquid and vapor pressure.
The PGS300 is the company’s first measuring device with an environmental product declaration.
Zurich-based technology company ABB has launched a new measuring device for testing gas, liquid and vapor pressure.
The PGS300, which is produced in Ossocuccio, Italy, was certified with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in a test, according to a press release.
The auditors verified not only the manufacturing company, but also user locations where the device could be installed.
The PGS300 is intended for use in sectors such as chemicals, oil and gas and the hydrogen industry.
The environmental certificate EPD is based on the life cycle assessment and other declarations on the environmental impact of a product and corresponds in many criteria to the European standard ISO 14040.
In this sense, EPDs are part of ABB’s circular economy roadmap.
EPD-certified products demonstrate the company’s transparency and are better positioned on the market, according to the press release.
“This is an important milestone on our path to greater sustainability,” Amina Hamidi, Head of the Instrumentation business line at ABB Measurement & Analytics, is quoted as saying in the press release.
“For the first time, we have been able to test and validate the environmental performance of one of our instrumentation products against existing, very demanding regulations and guidelines. The way to sustainability is to work with facts based on credible figures. This enables our customers to understand and compare the environmental performance of products on the market.” ce/ww
